Long before Prohibition
wiped out all but the most stalwart brewing companies, Pabst Brewing Company
operated a division dedicated to extract development. In 1982, this division
was purchased by a private buyer and thenceforth became known as Premier
Malt Products, Inc. The company is now a leading independent supplier
of domestic and imported malt extracts, both liquid and dry. Premier also
recently extended the range of products it provides to U.S. customers
by joining ranks with Pauls Malt (Mistley, England), the largest malt
producer in the UK, in an exclusive distribution agreement.
Premier produces a line of extracts marketed under the label "Reserve
Gold Label." Most are brewed using a blend of American and European
two-row Harrington and six-row Bonanza barley. The extracts are processed
in Peterborough, Ontario.
American rice: This malt extract produces
a light-bodied, sparkling, thirst-quenching brew of the American light
lager variety. Contains rice syrup, high malt glucose, and hop extract.

Brewers wheat: A true brewers' wheat that
produces American-style wheat beers with golden appearance, mild clove
aroma, and a creamy head. Made with wheat malt for the production of
American-style wheat beers. Contains hop extract. (Requires additional

Brown ale: This blend of pale malt and dark
crystal malts produces a full-bodied, mildly hopped, slightly sweet,
malty beer. Contains hop extract. (Requires additional sugar.) Available

Continental lager: A full-bodied premium
European-style lager with a more robust bouquet than the American version.
Made of a blend of U.S.- and European-grown two-row Harrington pale,
two-row Halcyon crystal, and six-row Bonanza barley. Contains hop extract.

Cream ale: Designed to produce a wonderfully
effervescent, very pale, lightly hopped ale. Contains Harrington two-row
pale blended with Bonanza six-row malt, high malt glucose, and hop extract.

Imperial stout: This strong, dark, rich stout
with just a hint of molasses gets its distinctive body and bouquet from
the blend of pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts. Contains hop
extract and molasses. (Requires additional sugar.) Available in 1.8-kg

Lager: A pale and light bodied American-style
lager with a mild hop aroma. Contains Harrington two-row pale blended
with Bonanza six-row barley malt, plus wheat malt and hop extract. (Requires
additional sugar.) Available in 1.8-kg cans.
Unhopped amber: Made of malted European and
American barley in a pale/crystal blend, this extract makes a medium-
to full-bodied brown ale or lager of copper to light brown color. Unhopped.

and 660-lb drums.
Unhopped Amber UK: Made of 100% European
two-row pale and crystal malts, this extract makes a medium- to full-bodied
ale or lager of copper to light brown color. Unhopped. Available in
60-lb pails and 650-lb drums.
Unhopped Dark: Made of malted European and
American barley in a blend of pale, crystal, and black malt, this extract
is naturally colored with roasted malt and is suited for the production
of a medium- to full-bodied brown ale or lager. Unhopped. Available
in 1.5-kg cans, 60-lb pails, and 660-lb drums.
Unhopped Dark UK: Roasted malt lends natural
color and a medium to full body to the brown ales and lagers made from
this blend of European two-row pale, crystal, and black malt. Unhopped.
Available in 60-lb pails and 650-lb drums.
Unhopped Light: Made of 100% malted barley,
this extract makes a light- to medium-bodied lager or ale of yellow
to gold color. Unhopped. Available in 1.5-kg cans, 60-lb pails, and
660-lb drums.
Unhopped Light UK: Made of 100% two-row UK
pale malt, this extract produces a light- to medium-bodied lager or
ale of pale to yellow color. Unhopped. Available in 60-lb pails and
650-lb drums.
Unhopped Wheat: Made of 60% malted barley
and 40% wheat, this extract has a distinct wheat character ideal for
Weizen beers or any other beer requiring a "grainy" flavor. Available
in 1.5-kg cans, 60-lb pails, and 660-lb drums.
